Garbage left outside lures bears into Ridgemont, Mountainviewand the Annex in Fernie

June 20, 2012 by bearawarefernie

ImageGarbage stored outside between collection days is luring bears into our neighborhoods.  Bear Aware and volunteers have been going door to door in areas with reported bear activity.  We were shocked to find the number of residences with garbage containers left next to the garage door, why not just bring garbage into the garage or put it in a shed.  If you dont have a garage or shed, garbage can be taken to the transfer station or to the Chamber of Commerce dumpsters between collection days.  Please remember to bring in of your bird/bear feeders.  We can do this and keep our community safe for people and wildlife.
