Mountain bikers chased by a Grizzly bear on Project 9 trail in Fernie

Friday July 6.  Two mountain bikers were chased by a Grizzly bear on Project 9 bike trail yesterday.  Remember, when mountain biking your speed and quietness put you at greater risk for encounters with wildlife.  Grizzly bears also reported on Coal Discovery Trai by the Oh Dear Junction.   C.O.s have inspected the area and put up warning signs.  Make noise to warn bears of your presence, make noise and slow down when approaching blind corners and areas where the line of sight is poor.  For more info on bear safety go to www.bearaware.bc.ca.
