August 29. A sow and her 2 cubs have been reported on the dike trail in Fernie by Dogwood Park (the end of 4th avenue) and in the annex just passed the Jehovah Witness Hall and a black bear was seen in James White Park (by the trail from the ball diamond).
If you see a bear while walking on the trail remain calm, back away slowly, leave the bear an escape route and let other trail users know. For more info on bear safety please visit www.bearaware.bc.ca
